Machel Cedenio of Trinidad and Tobago has made a .70 improvement this year and he has run the two fastest times this year. He was 5th at the 2012 World Junior Championships. Michael Cherry of USA has had a similar development but hasn’t broken 46 since the end of May and finished third at US juniors. Cedenio ran his second fastest time at the beginning of July. Tyler Brown set his pr to win the US junior meet in 45.74. 17 year-old Alexander L Sampao of Kenya set his best at the end of June with a time of 45.84. Last year he was third at the World Youth Championships (46.78). The winner of the World Youth Championships, Martin Manley of Jamaica (45.89), snuck up on the field to win title and as the 13th seed (46.24) this year he may again after running prs in the 100 (10.38) and 200 (20.57).
